Projectiles

In this episode of Joe Genius. He shows us that you can have alot of fun if you build your own launcher and launch things into the air. He proceeds to show us a video of a bunch of people who made a catapult and launched flaming pumpkins into the air. and launched them at scare crows to see if they would beable to hit them. about the length of 2 foot ball fields. He also shows us that a bunch of chemistry students had to make something that would involve connetic energy, they made a launcher and launched a tinnis ball. He also shows us that if you make the launcher strong enough it can throw, pianos, washing machines, and lawn mowers, videos have been provided.
SYNERGY
Finding Nemo is a 2003 American computer-animated film written by Andrew Stanton, directed by Stanton and Lee Unkrich and produced by Pixar Animation Studios. It tells the story of the overly protective clownfish Marlin, voiced by Albert Brooks, who along with a regal tang called Dory, voiced by Ellen DeGeneres, searches for his son Nemo, voiced by Alexander Gould. Along the way he learns to take risks and to let Nemo take care of himself.
After his mate Coral and the rest of their offspring are eaten by a barracuda, Marlin, an apprehensive clownfish who lives on the Great Barrier Reef, is very controlling of his only child. His son, Nemo, has an abnormally small right fin, his “lucky fin”, which causes Marlin to worry of his swimming ability. On his first day of school, Nemo boldly ventures away from the reef and touches the bottom of a boat. This makes Marlin angry, and starts an argument in front of Nemo’s classmates. To his father’s horror, Nemo is captured by a scuba diver and driven away in the boat.
For our poster project we did Finding Nemo. Finding Nemo has tons of materials in it but we only did a few. Disney Pixar created Finding Nemo on March 30th, 2003. On our poster in the top left corner we have a picture of the Finding Nemo movie case that also says “down load on ITunes”. We also have a finding Nemo blanket, a bouncy bounce, a cake, a gameboy game, and a backpack.

Columbine Essay!

Americans do not notice things going on around them, and their news stories make them believe the world is a bad place.
Pollution:
People around the area have not noticed that there is pollution in the air that is really affecting the earth because of all the violence that goes on.

News reporters:
The news reporters do not get the important stories and just go for the violent things because they think it will make better news.

T.V shows:
All they see on T.V is killing or something with violence.

Pedestrians:
People do not know things that go on around them besides what the news says

Introduction:
In America TONS of people are killed by gun violence every year. So this paper is going to tell you how Americans are do not notice the different things going on around them, and that their news stories make them believe that the world is a bad place. In my following paragraphs it is going to say why this statement is completely true. The topics that are going to be talked about are the pollution, news reporters, TV shows, and the people in American themselves.

Argument #1:
A problem that the Americans are not noticing about is the pollution that is going on around them. During the movie Moore asks a man what the news reporters were reporting and the man starts to tell Moore that they were there reporting an African American man with a gun. Moore then proceeded to ask him where the “HOLLYWOOD” sign was, the man looked over and hadn’t even noticed that it was not see able before. Moore was amazed at this. He also asked a Police man if they could arrest someone for polluting the air and he said “absolutely not” Moore tried to ask him why they couldn’t and he just ignored him and walked away. Moore was amazed that people around there did not care about the pollution and didn’t realize what was going on around their own city. This effects the Americans because it shows that they some what do not care what is going on and the do not even notice the really important things that are going on in life besides violence.

Argument #2:
Another problem is that on their T.V if they turn it on all they will see on the news is problems in America, like gun shootings or kidnappings, they never get to see anything but violence. This makes all of Americans scared of each other and pretty much forces them to all buy guns to stay safe. News reporters only report the things that they think will be watched, and example is when there was a shooting and also a drowning baby and the reporter chose the shooting. Why do you think he chose this one instead? Most likely because this is more interesting and will most likely is watched more. This effects the Americans because it proceeds to give them the wrong idea about what really goes on in the world and this also makes them frightened and worry about things that should not have to be worried about.

Argument #3:
When an American turns on the T.V (besides the news) they usually see things on there that are violent. One of the most watched shows in America is Cops, this T.V show is about police men catching the bad guys and taking them into custody. Normally this show has tons of violence that happens on it, and this proceeds to tell the Americans not to trust anyone because bad things can happen. During a little episode that they showed about this, an African American man was caught by the cops and he had, had a gun that he was attempting to use. This also makes the Americans think that they are safe if they go out and buy a gun, which leads to more violence out there.  This also effects the Americans because it make them think that it is not safe to be anywhere and makes them wonder why they need to trust anyone.

Argument #4
During this show there are tons of examples on how pedestrians don’t notice what is really going on around them. They did not notice the pollution; Charlton Heston is the old man that Moore had asked questions to. Turns out this man thinks that the only way that you can be safe is if you own a loaded gun, he also uses the excuse that “the law says I am allowed to have one”. This man did not even know that a little girl had been shot in a school and killed a while ago. This proves that not many of them know what is really happening around them and that even some violence is not interesting enough for them to get into. This effects the Americans because they need to realize that the world really isn’t a bad place and that they need to pay more attention to what goes on so that they know that violence is not going to help anything at all.

Conclusion:
This concludes that Americans need to pay more attention to what is going on around them so they know what to think and what not to think. Also that the evening news should stop trying to make the stories interesting, and calm down with the gun violence shows. If they did not make all the news about violence not many people would need guns and there would also be less violence and less killings.

Flaming Metal!

In this flammable episode of Joe Genius, backyard scientists quickly learn that sodium, magnesium, and many other metals are among the most active elements on the periodic table.

In this video he shoes that the elements (metals) with one electron can easily start on fire with just a bit of water. Potassium and Lithium, they react because they really want to get rid of that one electron. Magnesium also reacts to water but not as fast or as well because it has 2 electrons on the outter layer. Not just one. Magnesium also reacts when you try to put out the fire with a rock. It will make a giant explosion.

Amped Up!

In this video he shows that people can easily make electricity. He shows that you can pretty much make electricity with almost everything. In this video he shows us that you can make electricity with a lemon if you take copper and a nail and attach some wires. You can also make electricity with a potatoe and make it blow up. He shows us some videos of other people making electricity my playing their guitar that is attached to an amp and the amp is attached to some metal rod and it ends up when he plays a certain note the electricity moves a certain way. It shows us that you can make electricity with some electrons and some nails. It also shows that if you have electrons on a comb you can make water bend or stop.

Microwave This!

In this video this man trys to explain to us that really anything can go in the microwave but it really has a bad impact on the microwave itself. He shows videos of people putting things such as, eggs (more than one), metal, carrots, chip bags, Dvds, soap, and lighbulbs. While doing this it shows that if you put a light bulb in the microwave the heat and the waves make the lightbulb turn on and flash different colours, until the lightbulb eventually gets too hot and explodes. Putting a piece of metal and a carrot in there makes the carrot light up because the metal makes energy to the carrot and the carrot cant go anywhere so all the energy that goes into turns into light.
