The website of Wikileaks.com is releasing confidential documents about the government. They have published a secret U.S. State Department list of key infrastructure sites in the foreigh countries. The list of "critical infrastructure" and " key resources" was put together as part of a State Department order to compile an inventory of foreign sites whoes loss could critically impact the public health or the security in the US. People are saying that Wikileaks has been generally irreponsible, bordering on criminals.

What do you think?

-Is WikiLeaks a great sign of freedom of speech?
or
-Is it illegal publication of sensitive information?

Personally i think that this whole idea of WikiLeaks is retarded. If the stuff that these people are putting on the internet is so important then why isnt the government putting it on there themselves. If they really wanted the people to know what was going on all the time they would put it out there. This is an invasion of privacy and personally i think that all these people who are doing this should be locked up some where fer invading peoples privacy. Screw freedom of speech if its making people upset or even frightening them. This idea of
"Leaking" the secrets is stupid. They are secrets for a reason and they have no right to tell somthing that isnt theirs to tell.

Video games

Anyone who plays video games usually doesnt wait till Christmas or their Birthday to get a video game that they really want, they will go out and buy it on the day it is released. Gamers don't want a video game as a gift, because chances are that they already have the games that they want. So instead of getting them something that they will never use, try getting them an addition to their gaming system. A Udraw for the Wii or a PS3 or Xbox Move would be a good gift, or maybe a bigger screen T.V.

Just don't call it email!

On Facebook you will be able to exchange picture and video attachments. Facebook says it doesn’t have a set limit on file size constraints, but will have systems in place to prevent abuse. Meanwhile, Microsoft Office will also be part of the new Facebook messaging system. Microsoft says that in coming months you’ll be able to view Word, Excel and PowerPoint attachments with Office Web Apps directly in Facebook.

How to plug in a brain!
Researchers are finding better ways for our neurons to talk directly to our computers.

Researchers are trying to come up with a solution for a direct connection to computers. This could soon resore speech and even mobility. Leigh Hochberg is leading the second clinical trial of the brain-computer link called BrainGate. The system will use sensors that will be implanted into the motor cortex. Studies have shown that paralyzed people can even move a computer cursor by using their brains while attached to this system. These implants can inflame the surrounding tissue, and scarring can disrupt the connection between neurons and electrodes.

Projectiles

In this episode of Joe Genius. He shows us that you can have alot of fun if you build your own launcher and launch things into the air. He proceeds to show us a video of a bunch of people who made a catapult and launched flaming pumpkins into the air. and launched them at scare crows to see if they would beable to hit them. about the length of 2 foot ball fields. He also shows us that a bunch of chemistry students had to make something that would involve connetic energy, they made a launcher and launched a tinnis ball. He also shows us that if you make the launcher strong enough it can throw, pianos, washing machines, and lawn mowers, videos have been provided.

Finding Nemo is a 2003 American computer-animated film written by Andrew Stanton, directed by Stanton and Lee Unkrich and produced by Pixar Animation Studios. It tells the story of the overly protective clownfish Marlin, voiced by Albert Brooks, who along with a regal tang called Dory, voiced by Ellen DeGeneres, searches for his son Nemo, voiced by Alexander Gould. Along the way he learns to take risks and to let Nemo take care of himself.
After his mate Coral and the rest of their offspring are eaten by a barracuda, Marlin, an apprehensive clownfish who lives on the Great Barrier Reef, is very controlling of his only child. His son, Nemo, has an abnormally small right fin, his “lucky fin”, which causes Marlin to worry of his swimming ability. On his first day of school, Nemo boldly ventures away from the reef and touches the bottom of a boat. This makes Marlin angry, and starts an argument in front of Nemo’s classmates. To his father’s horror, Nemo is captured by a scuba diver and driven away in the boat.
For our poster project we did Finding Nemo. Finding Nemo has tons of materials in it but we only did a few. Disney Pixar created Finding Nemo on March 30th, 2003. On our poster in the top left corner we have a picture of the Finding Nemo movie case that also says “down load on ITunes”. We also have a finding Nemo blanket, a bouncy bounce, a cake, a gameboy game, and a backpack.

Columbine Essay!

Americans do not notice things going on around them, and their news stories make them believe the world is a bad place.
Pollution:
People around the area have not noticed that there is pollution in the air that is really affecting the earth because of all the violence that goes on.

News reporters:
The news reporters do not get the important stories and just go for the violent things because they think it will make better news.

T.V shows:
All they see on T.V is killing or something with violence.

Pedestrians:
People do not know things that go on around them besides what the news says

Introduction:
In America TONS of people are killed by gun violence every year. So this paper is going to tell you how Americans are do not notice the different things going on around them, and that their news stories make them believe that the world is a bad place. In my following paragraphs it is going to say why this statement is completely true. The topics that are going to be talked about are the pollution, news reporters, TV shows, and the people in American themselves.

Argument #1:
A problem that the Americans are not noticing about is the pollution that is going on around them. During the movie Moore asks a man what the news reporters were reporting and the man starts to tell Moore that they were there reporting an African American man with a gun. Moore then proceeded to ask him where the “HOLLYWOOD” sign was, the man looked over and hadn’t even noticed that it was not see able before. Moore was amazed at this. He also asked a Police man if they could arrest someone for polluting the air and he said “absolutely not” Moore tried to ask him why they couldn’t and he just ignored him and walked away. Moore was amazed that people around there did not care about the pollution and didn’t realize what was going on around their own city. This effects the Americans because it shows that they some what do not care what is going on and the do not even notice the really important things that are going on in life besides violence.

Argument #2:
Another problem is that on their T.V if they turn it on all they will see on the news is problems in America, like gun shootings or kidnappings, they never get to see anything but violence. This makes all of Americans scared of each other and pretty much forces them to all buy guns to stay safe. News reporters only report the things that they think will be watched, and example is when there was a shooting and also a drowning baby and the reporter chose the shooting. Why do you think he chose this one instead? Most likely because this is more interesting and will most likely is watched more. This effects the Americans because it proceeds to give them the wrong idea about what really goes on in the world and this also makes them frightened and worry about things that should not have to be worried about.

Argument #3:
When an American turns on the T.V (besides the news) they usually see things on there that are violent. One of the most watched shows in America is Cops, this T.V show is about police men catching the bad guys and taking them into custody. Normally this show has tons of violence that happens on it, and this proceeds to tell the Americans not to trust anyone because bad things can happen. During a little episode that they showed about this, an African American man was caught by the cops and he had, had a gun that he was attempting to use. This also makes the Americans think that they are safe if they go out and buy a gun, which leads to more violence out there.  This also effects the Americans because it make them think that it is not safe to be anywhere and makes them wonder why they need to trust anyone.

Argument #4
During this show there are tons of examples on how pedestrians don’t notice what is really going on around them. They did not notice the pollution; Charlton Heston is the old man that Moore had asked questions to. Turns out this man thinks that the only way that you can be safe is if you own a loaded gun, he also uses the excuse that “the law says I am allowed to have one”. This man did not even know that a little girl had been shot in a school and killed a while ago. This proves that not many of them know what is really happening around them and that even some violence is not interesting enough for them to get into. This effects the Americans because they need to realize that the world really isn’t a bad place and that they need to pay more attention to what goes on so that they know that violence is not going to help anything at all.

Conclusion:
This concludes that Americans need to pay more attention to what is going on around them so they know what to think and what not to think. Also that the evening news should stop trying to make the stories interesting, and calm down with the gun violence shows. If they did not make all the news about violence not many people would need guns and there would also be less violence and less killings.

Flaming Metal!

In this flammable episode of Joe Genius, backyard scientists quickly learn that sodium, magnesium, and many other metals are among the most active elements on the periodic table.

In this video he shoes that the elements (metals) with one electron can easily start on fire with just a bit of water. Potassium and Lithium, they react because they really want to get rid of that one electron. Magnesium also reacts to water but not as fast or as well because it has 2 electrons on the outter layer. Not just one. Magnesium also reacts when you try to put out the fire with a rock. It will make a giant explosion.

Amped Up!

In this video he shows that people can easily make electricity. He shows that you can pretty much make electricity with almost everything. In this video he shows us that you can make electricity with a lemon if you take copper and a nail and attach some wires. You can also make electricity with a potatoe and make it blow up. He shows us some videos of other people making electricity my playing their guitar that is attached to an amp and the amp is attached to some metal rod and it ends up when he plays a certain note the electricity moves a certain way. It shows us that you can make electricity with some electrons and some nails. It also shows that if you have electrons on a comb you can make water bend or stop.

Microwave This!

In this video this man trys to explain to us that really anything can go in the microwave but it really has a bad impact on the microwave itself. He shows videos of people putting things such as, eggs (more than one), metal, carrots, chip bags, Dvds, soap, and lighbulbs. While doing this it shows that if you put a light bulb in the microwave the heat and the waves make the lightbulb turn on and flash different colours, until the lightbulb eventually gets too hot and explodes. Putting a piece of metal and a carrot in there makes the carrot light up because the metal makes energy to the carrot and the carrot cant go anywhere so all the energy that goes into turns into light.

What is Michael Moore's thesis in Bowling for Columbine?
Some of Moore's conclusions are very dence, such as when he decides a welfare work program is responsible for a six-year-old shotting another six-year-old. He addresses these concerns, pointing out that if he was thinking like the media did when they blamed other kids for the Columbine shooting, he might as well conclude that bowling was responsible for the shootings, because the two resposible students went to only bowling class before the massacre had even started.

How does he support this thesis? and ideas + conventions.
He supports this by interviewing alot of people that have something to do with Columbine.

Kids Rebel Ideas from the School
Recently all the schools across Saskatchewan have been made non-smoking schools. This means that you aren’t allowed to have tobacco products on school grounds at any times. Teachers have the right to take away any kind of tobacco products that you may have. Some people think that this is unfair because it isn’t harming anyone to begin with. Another issue with school is that they are now energy drink free. Most people think that it is unfair. We are allowed to have them but not in schools. So if teens go and buy one at lunch time and cant bring it into school they end up drinking it really fast which is worse then sipping on it during breaks between classes or actually in the class. Personally most teens don’t think that this is a fair thing to be in school, it hasn’t been a problem and we don’t think it will be. Teens are smart enough not to have too much unless it’s needed to stay away during school.
Starting the new school year all the schools have been non-smoking. This is posted everywhere. But some don’t see how this will make a difference, kids will continue to smoke off of the grounds and most likely be late for class which will cause a problem to the school. So this idea pretty much isn’t helping anyone at all, just making everything harder for everyone. Some of us teens are not quite sure why they have decided to do this, but it may have something to do wit passer-byres maybe accidently inhaling some of the smoke as they walk by. But if it was really a big deal they wouldn’t even go near the tobacco to begin with. Also at the starting of this year the schools don’t allow energy drinks in the school, this confuses and frustrates most of the teens in school because some of us have them at lunch because most of us are tired from getting up so early. Schools may have band this because caffeine can be harmful to kids and so can most of the other things in the drinks.
Adults are thinking that all of this is better for the students because all these things are bad for us. Parents and Teachers are thinking that this is helping the kids because if we can’t smoke on school grounds we may as well quit then. They are thinking that if we don’t smoke now we are less likely not to smoke when we get out of school. In a way they will be helping us kids but in a way making everything harder for us. The government is thinking that this isn’t going to help them much because they find teens spend a lot of money on tobacco products.
Students should be allowed to have things that they want in school because I don’t think that this is going to make a difference in the way that kids think but make things harder for everyone else!

McDonalds, Disney, and "COOOOOOOOL"

Sprite
Sprite has a relationship with basketball players, in one of their commercials they have a basketball player drinking a bottle of sprite and saying how good it is and how much it helps since he is a basketball player. Sprite also has a relationship with MTV, they have a big sprite concert and MTV had filmed everyone in it doin what they like to do. In the background of this concert there was a huge sprite bottle and the sprite logo printed everywhere. Sprite also has a relationship with Viacom because Viacom owns MTV.

McDonalds and Disney

What is cool?

What is cool...
-I think cool is a stereotype; a certain culture on which people do things and what they find is acceptable; cool is popular.

Example:
- The kind of music that people listen to can be seen as cool. Certain cultures have different music that they like to listen to that other cultures dont like at all.

- Body piercings/tattoos can be seen as cool to a certain culture of people. Certain cultures think that it is cool to have piercings and tattoos and feel they need them to fit in with the rest.
